Seminars in Ignatian Leadership is a unique program to prepare leaders for the Jesuit high school of the future. The program consists of three seminars conducted within the context of a three-year
cycle that explores the best of leadership theory and practice from the dynamic world view of Ignatian spirituality, with specific application to the apostolate of Jesuit secondary education.
The program is open to people working in the apostolate of Jesuit secondary education who desire to enhance their roles in the ministry of teaching through outstanding leadership and service as Ignatian educators, whether in the capacity of faculty members, department chairs, program directors or high school administrators.

Each of the three Seminars develops in detail a different but related theme of Ignatian leadership. A Seminar meets for two sessions of approximately 3½ days in length (usually starting Monday evening and concluding Friday late morning). The first session meets in October; the second session meets in February. Applicants accepted into a Seminar will be expected to do some preparatory work prior to the first session. Session Two meets a few months later in the second semester of the same academic year. During the months between the two sessions there will be back-home projects and follow-up exercises for participants to complete. Seminar 1 (2007-2008)
Ignatian Leadership with Apostolic Vision
October Session: Ignatian Leadership and Current Theory; Qualities of a Leader; Role of Vision for Leadership; Personality Preferences and Leadership; Dynamics of Building Trust; Handling Criticism and Maintaining Personal Excellence.
February Session: Constructing One’s Leadership Platform; Ways to Shape Ignatian Vision; Building Shared Vision; Evaluating One’s Leadership Style; Developing Effective Leadership Strategies; Communications Skills; Visioning Jesuit High School of the Future.
Seminar 2 (2008-2009)
Ignatian Leadership Through the Responsible Use of Power
October Session: Power & Uses of Power; Power, Responsibility & Accountability in Leadership; Formal and Informal Power; Stages of Power and Soul Leadership; Ignatian Use of Power and Decision Making; Filters and Tools for Leadership and Decision Making.
February Session: Ignatian Indifference, Freedom & Discernment; Adult Development and Personal, Professional and Spiritual Growth of Faculty, Administrators & Staff; Using One’s Personal Filters along with Personal Filters of Others.

Ignatian Leadership and the Dynamics of Change
October Session: Ignatius and Change; Reflection on Personal Change; Understanding and Working with Change; Use of Tools to Facilitate Change; Specifying Non-Specific Language.
February Session: Planning Tools and Processes; Ignatian Leadership and Discernment; Emerging Models of Leadership and Governance in Jesuit Schools; Ignatian Leadership Mission Statement; Building an Ignatian Leadership Team; Rapport: Key to Communication.
